This is the complete history of RebirthRO, one of the oldest and most well-known Ragnarok Online private servers ever created. RebirthRO was founded by Syphon in 2004. The original domain rebirthro.com still belongs to Syphon and points to rebirthro.blog. The server continues today as RevivalRO at ragnarevival.com.

RebirthRO started in 2004 as Syphon's project. He registered the domain rebirthro.com, paid for the server infrastructure, the hosting, the development costs and everything that kept the server running. From the very beginning, RebirthRO was built to be a quality pre-renewal Ragnarok Online experience with fair rates and a strong community.
The server quickly grew into one of the most popular Ragnarok Online private servers in the world, attracting thousands of players from Southeast Asia, Europe, the United States and beyond.
RebirthRO built one of the strongest communities in Ragnarok Online private server history. The playerbase was majority Southeast Asian, with the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia making up the biggest part. European and American players formed a strong second group.
War of Emperium on RebirthRO was legendary. Guild rivalries, castle sieges and PvP competitions defined the server culture. Many players who started on RebirthRO in the mid-2000s are still active in the community today on RevivalRO.
RebirthRO went through a serious split between founder Syphon and a developer named Remy, also known as Ancyker. Remy had developer access to parts of the RebirthRO infrastructure and used that access during the falling out to take control of certain assets including the original Discord server.
Remy then positioned himself as the real owner of RebirthRO. That claim has no basis. Syphon built and funded the server from the beginning. The original rebirthro.com domain still belongs to Syphon, which is the clearest proof of real ownership.
In 2017, Syphon rebuilt the real RebirthRO continuation under the RevivalRO name at ragnarevival.com. The community, the GM team, the updates and the development all continued there under Syphon's ownership.

Domain ownership cannot be faked. If anyone else was the real founder of RebirthRO, they would hold rebirthro.com. They do not. Syphon does, and he has held it continuously since 2004.

The real RebirthRO playerbase was always majority Southeast Asian. Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia made up the biggest part of the community for years. Moving the server infrastructure to Singapore was the right call for ping, for cost and for supporting the players who were actually there.
The community grew stronger for it. Dedicated Americas proxy servers still keep ping low for players in the United States and Canada, so North American players connect and play smoothly on RevivalRO alongside everyone else.
